Ralf Schumacher, Frentzen swap teams
for '99 season

Thursday September 10, 1998
MONZA, Italy (AP) -- Heinz-Harald Frentzen and Ralf  Schumacher  will  swap  places for the 1999 Formula 1  season,  with  Frentzen joining Jordan and  Schumacher moving to Williams.
Eddie  Jordan  announced  the  move in Monza on Thursday,  saying  that  Frentzen,  who  is leaving Williams after two seasons, will team with former world  champion  Damon Hill at Jordan next year. No financial details  were  disclosed.
Jordan   indicated   that  Ralf  Schumacher   was moving  to  Williams,  but  added  it was up to the British team to make the formal announcement.

"I  have    two  spots  free  on  the  team, " Frank Williams said. "However, we are concentrating on Sunday's  race  [ the  Italian  Grand  Prix ]  here, rather than on  next year's lineup."
The  British   team  is   expected  to   be  formed   by  Ralf  Schumacher,   the  younger  brother  of Ferrari's  two-time  world champion Michael, and Alex  Zanardi,  the  two-time  Cart  champion who would replace defending world champion Jacques Villeneuve.
Villeneuve,  a  Canadian,  has  already  announced that  he  will  be  driving  with  the  new  British - American  racing  team next year.  R. Schumacher, 23,  is  leaving   Jordan   after   a  single   season. He placed second to  teammate  Damon Hill  in the
Belgian Grand Prix last month.
"It  wasn't  an  easy  decision  for  me," Frentzen said. "But I think that Jordan will  be very strong next  season  and  that  they  will  put together an interesting  package  for  me."
"I  was  surprised  at  the  news  to have Frentzen with me next year," said  Hill. "It's  a  smart move to  have  two  guys  of experience. It would boost Jordan's  chances in the constructors standings."
H.H Frentzen,  a German  like  Schumacher, has a single  Grand Prix  victory  in  his F1 career. Ralf Schumacher  has  yet  to  win.
