Ralf looks to 2000

11 Jan 2000
Ralf Schumacher  was questioned on his thoughts about the  new  BMW Williams partnership at the
livery  launch,  Monday,  as  part  of  the opening ceremony:
Interviewer : Ralf, is it a lot of  pressure?  BMW has  a successful  history  in  Formula1,  Williams have  an  even  bigger  history.   So  now  all  the pressure is on you - you are the number 1 driver.
Ralf Schumacher : First of all I  don't feel under pressure. I did a good job together with Williams
last  year  and  I  don't  see  a reason if I have a

good  engine - which  I  do  have - and  a reliable and  good  car - which  we  will  hopefully build -
that  we  will  be  up  there.  I  don't feel myself under  pressure  as  we  are  very young now and have   to   grow   together   and   we  have  to  be successful and not put ourselves under pressure. There is no reason to do this in my opinion.
Interviewer :  You recently tested the new BMW engine. What do you feel about the progress they have made?
Ralf Schumacher : We  make some little progress   I  think.  Its  all very young and its about getting all those people  together  and getting the engine adapted to my personal  style - which works quite well already. We have some  mapping  work  done so I am quite happy so far.
Interviewer :  Honestly  are  you  better off than last  year  with  the  Supertec  engine, or is there still a long way to go?
Ralf Schumacher :  In my opinion last year is last year and this year is this year and I don't  really compare  the  two  engines.  I think we have made progress I am happy with so far and I am sure we are going to get there. I suppose I would say that
this engine, as it is, is already better than we had.
.Interviewer : Thank  you  Ralf.
