Testing continued at Barcelona  today.
Ralf Schumacher completed 340km (70 laps)  with the FW23,
which is more than a race distance.
He said:"because of the technical rule changes for 2001, we have tried over the past few days to adapt the set-up of the car  to allow for  this - something  that we didn't do too well at the  beginning  of this test.  From  driving the  FW23 today, however,  it feels  much  more  stable  and  far  closer  to an
optimum set-up. I'm very pleased and encouraged with what we have learned."

Ralf  Schumacher  was  testing  in  the  new  FW23
He  said:  "I  continued  the  evaluation  of  set-up  work  and reliability on the FW23. We  suffered from an engine  problem, which  necessitated  an  engine  change.  The  team  did  an efficient and quick job during the engine change and we got back out again to do some installation laps on the engine for tomorrow's  session."

First day testing at Barcelona with the new FW23
Ralf Schumacher said: "Not  a bad  first day with the new
FW23.  My  initial  impressions  are  that  it  is  stable  and relatively easy to drive but development work is ongoing.
I  managed  33  laps  with  the  car  before  I  heard  and subsequently reported an unusual  sound to the engineers. The team suggested that, as a precaution, we switch it off and  examine  the  problem. I  hope  for  some  longer runs tomorrow. "

VALENCIA  TEST - DAY  THREE
Ralf  “Given the hiccups we suffered on day one, we spent the  last day of testing trying to finish our  program. We did
some work with the  FW22B in the morning that was aimed at  optimising  the  car  to  the  new  engine  and gearbox.
This  was cut short by an engine problem. In  the  afternoon we did some tyre work with the Fw22A. My initial impressions about the new engine are favourable but  there's obviously still some  development work to be done.”

VALENCIA  TEST - DAY  TWO
There was minor frustration for Ralf Schumacher, as his first taste of the all-new 2001 BMW V10 engine was curtailed due to a mechanical problem.
Ralf  "I  didn’t  have  much  running  today, I  could  only manage  a  handful  of  laps due  to engine  problems. We changed  the engine, but  it was too late in the  day to do any longs runs. I hope for a better opportunity with the new engine tomorrow."

Ralf Schumacher
"It was very difficult to get any consistency today in terms of the weather and subsequently the track conditions,"
"The day began wet and although it looked as if it might dry, the unpredictability of the weather didn't really allow for any definitive tyre testing."
